Al Stewart will perform in the Corbet Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. for the President’s Scholarship performance, “An Acoustic Evening with Al Stewart.” Dave Nachmanoff will accompany Stewart.
The event will focus solely on acoustic music.
“I've had calls from people who say his show is much more than just music. He is an awesome story teller and portrays that in his songs,” said Events Coordinator Candy Lunke.
Bob Dylan has heavily influenced Stewart’s music. Stewart found the majority of his fame with records “Time Passages” in 1978 and “Year of the Cat” in 1976 after each sold a million copies.
Dave Nachmanoff is described by davenach.com as a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. He has recorded eight albums since his first in 1997.
Lunke said she has sold 300 tickets so far and she expects more sales.
“I've had two calls this week from guys who said that seeing (Stewart) perform is on their ‘bucket lists,’” said Lunke. ”One guy had tickets to see Al in California in 1976 and didn't get to go to the concert. He is making up for that now.”
Tickets are available for reservation at ext. 777 or 605. They are available to students and seniors for $20, adults $25, in the first 8 rows of the audience (Golden Circle) $30 and box seats $35.For more information about Stewart, see alstewart.com.
