The season for the Centralia College men’s baseball team was mostly a disappointing one with the team finishing with a 3-22 record in league and 4-34 record overall.
The team did end the season on a positive note with the Blazers splitting the last four games of the season with winning one game each out of both of the double headers over the last weekend of baseball.
The Blazers finished the season in last place in the NWAACC West trailing Green River by two games for the second to last place record in the division.
This season also marked the last season in which head coach Bruce Pocklington was at the helm of the Blazers as he ended his tenure as head coach following the last game of the year.
There are going to be nine sophomores leaving the team this year due to graduation and those are Mike Guthrie, Jake Heinricher, Chris Wasson, Rico Melendez, Bryan Beck, Colton Westfall, Nick Decker, Justin Henning and Trevor Harmon.
As a team the Blazers were ranked at the bottom in team batting average with a .229 average and also at the bottom in runs scored with a total of 80 runs for the season.
Hitting leaders for the Blazers were Josh Grenier with a team high .293 batting average and team high 34 hits. Scott miller trailed with a .286 average and had 20 hits on the year. The team leader for runs batted in was Jake Heinricher with 18. Taylor Miller led the team with two home runs and he also had 26 hits on the year.
Pitching for the Blazers was one of the stronger suits for some individuals on the team. As a team the Blazers posted a team ERA of 5.24. The Blazers only allowed a total of 133 earned runs on the year. That was good for eighth out of twenty-five teams in the NWAACC.
Individual pitching leaders for the Blazers was Trevor Harmon who led the team in ERA, innings pitched, and strikeouts. Harmon had a 2.77 era on 53 innings pitched with 45 strikeouts. Rico Melendez pitched 49.3 innings with a 4.26 ERA and 32 strikeouts. Second on the team in ERA was Chris Wasson with a 2.92 ERA on 24 innings pitched. Third on the team in innings pitched was Alex Anderson with 46.3 innings pitched and a 4.38 ERA. Jacob Conklin had a 5.08 Era with 29 strikeouts.
