Blazer ballers start season today in tournament play

The Men

After a back and fourth first half which saw Centralia take a 39-36 halftime lead the Blazers couldn't hold off Clackamas in the second half of the Red Devil Classic, losing 75-60.

Centralia and Clackamas were tied for much of the first half before the Blazers took a lead late and went into half with a three point lead.

Clackamas came out of halftime outscoring Centralia 18-7 taking a 54-46 at the 10 minute mark of the half.

The Blazers couldn't get anything going as they got outscored 39-21 in the second half falling 75-60.

Andy Damitz picked up his team high 14 points all in the first half. Isaac Mosley-Bolds scored 13 and Kamal Smith put up 11.

The Blazers will face Peninsula at 1 p.m. Nov. 28 in the second round of the Red Devil Classic.

The Women

The Lady Blazers opened their 2009-2010 campaign with a 54-38 victory over Mt. Hood in the Clackamas Thanksgiving Tournament.

Centralia allowed just 19 points in the opening half as they went into intermission with a comfortable lead.

The women gave up another 19 in the second coming away with a 54-38 win.

Molly Erven led the Blazer attack with 14 points. Courtney May scored nine while Lexi Belcher added seven.

Centralia looks to stay unbeaten as they take on Clackamas Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. in second round tournament action.
