The Blazers picked up their first win of the season during their home opener in thrilling fashion.
Isaac Mosley-Bolds intercepted a South Puget Sound pass and hit Andy Damitz streaking up-court for and easy layup with eight seconds left in play to seal Centralia’s 68-65 nail-biting win Jan. 6.
Dan DeVries hit two early three’s to put the Blazers ahead 10-3 after just over two minutes of play.
South Puget Sound battled back with a 15-8 run to not the score at 18 with 10 minutes to play in the half.
The teams went back and forth for the remainder of the first as they wound up tied 36-36 at the half.
The second half was much like the first as the teams stayed deadlocked for the majority of the period.
With 1:30 left in play Centralia found themselves trailing by one point 65-64 and that’s when Mosley-Bolds took charge.
On the Blazers next possession he drove the middle of the lane and made a layup to put Centralia up 66-65.
South Puget Sound missed a shot on their next possession, as did the Blazers.
With time ticking down South Puget Sound’s pass was intercepted by Mosley-Bolds who saw Damitz streaking up-court and hit him in stride with a pass for an easy layup to put Centralia ahead by three points with eight seconds left.
In South Puget Sounds final attempt they drove the lane hoping to get fouled and make the basket for a three point play the old fashioned way but there was no foul and the player missed the shot sealing the Blazers 65-63 win.
Craig Seiler was the team's leading scorer with 18 and rebounder with five.
Mosley-Bolds came off the bench and scored 14 points and led the team with three steals.
Damitz, also coming off the bench, scored eight points and pulled down five boards while DeVries finished the night with eight points and three steals.
With the win Centralia picked up their first win of the year and now stand at 1-8 overall and 1-1 in league. Centralia travels to Auburn Saturday Jan. 9 to take on Green River in a league showdown.
