During spring break, 35 students and faculty ventured to New York City. They explored for five days and four nights.

"I didn't want to come home," Kelsey Noltensmeier, 18 of Rochester, said.

The group did not follow an itinerary, and instead performed as their own tour guides.

Some favorite destinations were Central Park, Times Square and Manhattan.

"We could have spent an entire day in Central Park," Clayton Cline, 17 of Winlock, said. "They had maps a person tall."

Unfortunately, the students seemed to scorn the maps.

"We spent four hours looking for Balto's statue," Noltensmeier said.

Students also visited famous sites across the city.

"We went to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island," Austin Haworth, 17 of Chehalis, said whose group became lost and separated on that particular adventure.

"Ian (Rust, 18 of Rochester) and I went to the Church of Scientology," said Cline. "They showed us this video and eventually Ian pulled out his phone and pretended he had an emergency."

Most students visited the Empire State Building, but only a few ventured to the top.
