The Lady Blazers golf team traveled to Skagit Valley Sept. 27 to compete in the two-day Cardinal Classic 2009.

Centralia shot 629 finishing fifth overall in the field of 11 teams including Bellevue, Columbia Basin, Grays Harbor, Green River, Olympic, Skagit Valley, Spokane, SW Oregon, Treasure Valley and Walla Walla.

Representing the Blazers at the tournament were sophomores Kristina Brenneis and Hillary Peters, as well as freshman Nicole Stewart.

Stewart put together two strong days shooting 99 on the first day, then dropping four stokes from that to lead Centralia on day two with a 95.

Peters had a good showing as she shot a team leading 96 on opening day and a 112 on day two.

Brenneis struggles a little on the first day with a 120 but was able to get in a rhythm on the second day shooting a 107.

Stewart's two-day score of 194 was good enough to place her 15th among the field of 36 golfers.

Peters finished 21st overall while Brenneis finished at 30th.

The Cardinal Classic is the only scheduled tournament in the fall for the Lady Blazers. Centralia will pick action back up April 11, 2010 at the Wenatchee League Match.
