On Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 4:53 p.m., a 7.0 earthquake occurred in Haiti six miles from its capitol Port au Prince.

The international Red Cross estimates that there were up to 50,000 people killed.

They are struggling to find a location to place the dead bodies.

Help is flying in from China, France, Spain, and U.S. They are bringing food, water, and medicine hoping to accommodate the estimated three million people who may need emergency relief.

According to a quote from MSNBC, “Money is worth nothing right now, water is the currency.”

Look for more information, posting soon, on how the Haitian earthquake ties into college community.
