According to city-data.com, 14.3 percent of Lewis County citizens live in poverty. This is a growing problem in the community and there are ways to help. One such way was offered to students during the volunteer fair in Centralia College's Science Center. Full story

Local Church Offers Support for Eating Disorders

There is help for students who suffer from eating disorders. A support group, called Overeaters Anonymous, has met in Centralia for more than 20 years. OA is not just about weight loss, weight gain or maintenance, or obesity or diets. Through its 12-step program, the group addresses physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Full story

Brooke Williams creates art for cancer

Adna high school senior Brooke Williams worked with local world class bronze artist Jim Stafford on a very special project. "Mountain of Hope," a bronze sculpture of a breast cancer ribbon, will be auctioned to benefit Relay for Life. "I've known a lot of people who have had cancer, who have had family members affected by cancer. Full story

Small Centralia Fire Next to College Campus

At 10:25 a.m. Thursday morning, Riverside Fire Authority was dispatched the 1100 block of Centralia College Boulevard for a residential structure fire. Fire crews arrived on scene quickly from the Pearl Street station. Smoke was coming from the second floor of the house, and firefighters were forced to engage in an "aggressive interior attack" in the attic space and knee wall, Riverside Fire Chief Jim Walkowski said.
