Blazers season comes to an end

The Blazers saw their hopes of postseason play come to an end May 16 in Tacoma. Centralia needed to win its final two games of the season to qualify for a playoff game between the number two and three teams in the west for the final playoff spot. However with 3-1 and 4-1 losses, the Blazers season came to an end.

Blazers take two on sophomore night

Centralia hosted its final games of the season May 8 when Grays Harbor came to town. The Blazers won both games on sophomore night before losing the final game of the series May 9 in Grays Harbor.

Blazers split series with Pierce

May 2 the Blazers hosted a doubleheader against Pierce and split the series.

 

Lower Columbia takes rematch

After winning two of the first three games with Lower Columbia the Red Devils were looking for a little revenge.

Tacoma takes series for Centralia

The Blazers walked away with one victory and two losses after a three game series with Tacoma during the weekend.

Centralia split an April 25 doubleheader with the Titans and lost a single game April 26 to bring their league record to 7-7.

Blazers win three of four during weekend

Centralia traveled to Grays Harbor and Green River during the weekend to play doubleheaders against both squads. The Blazers swept Grays Harbor and split the series with Green River putting their league record to 6-5.

Centralia pitcher Tyson Schmitt signs letter of intent to play ball at UW

Tyson Schmitt stands at a towering 6’7” and delivers a fast ball that has been clocked in the mid 90s. Schmitt is a walk-on to the Centralia College baseball team this season and will be headed to the University of Washington next year.

Blazers take series from number one Lower Columbia

Centralia took two of three games against number one ranked Lower Columbia last weekend.

The Red Devils came to Centralia for a doubleheader April 10 boasting an impressive 18-1 record sitting solely atop the Western Division standings.

The Blazers were able to get two games in over the weekend despite the rain splitting a pair of games against Green River April 4.

Blazer baseball off to winning ways

With new head coach Rick Skinner the Blazers baseball team looks to be turning things around.
Centralia split doubleheaders with Southwest Oregon March 24 and March 25 to finish preseason play with a 7-5 record. With the seven wins early in the season, the Blazers have tied their win total of the 2009 and 2008 seasons combined.

Centralia College has hired new coach Rick Skinner to lead the men’s baseball program.

“He has connections to the area, he knows baseball, he knows how to coach and he is a good fit for the college," said Bob Peters, athletic director. "He is a great addition to our sports programs."

After winning their games against Grays Harbor during the weekend by forfeit, the Lady Blazers have since split a doubleheader against Highline and lost two to league leader Pierce.

The Blazer bats were on fire during a doubleheader sweep of Highline April 23 at Fort Borst Park.

Centralia blasted the Thunderbirds for 16 hits and 11 runs in the first game defeating Highline 11-3.

Centralia hosted the Pierce Lady Raiders April 13 at Fort Borst Park. After going 1-8 in the preseason Pierce has run through league to take first place with an 8-0 record.

Lady Blazers open league with sweep of Highline

After only one preseason win, the Lady Blazers opened their league campaign with a doubleheader sweep of Highline April 6.

Golf team finishes seventh in championship

The Centralia College Lady Blazer golf team wrapped their season up with a seventh place finish at the NWAACC Championships at the Gold Mountain golf course.

 

Centralia finishes fifth at the Cardinal Classic

The Lady Blazers golf team traveled to Skagit Valley Sept. 27 to compete in the two-day Cardinal Classic 2009.
Centralia shot a 629 finishing fifth overall in the field of 11 teams including Bellevue, Columbia Basin, Grays Harbor, Green River, Olympic, Skagit Valley, Spokane, SW Oregon, Treasure Valley and Walla Walla.

The Blazers picked up their first win of the season during their home opener in thrilling fashion.

Centralia downs Lower Columbia to become number one in the West.

For the second year in a row Centralia traveled to Longview to take on the Lower Columbia Red Devils with the NWAACC Western Division number one position on the line and for the second year in a row the Blazers managed to come away with a win.

Going into the game both squads held identical undefeated 3-0 league records but with the 70-67 Centralia is now the only undefeated team remaining in the West.

Centralia’s Lexi Belcher led the Blazers to a dominant 72-51 victory over South Puget Sound Jan. 6 with her third straight 20-plus point performance and ninth straight game in double figures.

Blazers have rough season behind slew of injuries

After starting the season winning three of their first nine matches, the Centralia College Lady Blazers did not pick up another win as they lost their last 22 matches finishing the season with a 3-29 record.

Many of the outstanding athletes that have joined the Centralia College Sports Hall of Fame were skilled in more than one sport. The three athletes inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010 are no exception as all three played two sports at the college.
