The Blazers allowed two late inning chances slip away during their
weekend doubleheaders. Centralia lost both games to Lower Columbia May
1.

Centralia traveled to Longview May 1 to take on rival Lower Columbia
in a doubleheader. The teams had met three previous times this season
with the Blazers having a 2-1 advantage.

The Red Devils came into the games having not lost since the previous
meeting with Centralia and looked to keep it that way.

In the first game unearned runs hurt the Blazers as Lower Columbia
picked up an 11-1 win.

Scott Miller was the starting pitcher for Centralia and pitched the
first five innings.

Miller gave up seven runs but only three of them were earned. He gave
up seven hits and struck out four batters.

Alex Bos came in to relieve Miller and pitched the final inning and
two thirds, giving up four runs on seven hits, before the mercy rule
went into effect.

The Blazers were only able to get six hits in the game compared to the
14 put up by the Red Devils.

Taylor Miller led Centralia with two hits, a stolen base and an RBI.

The Blazers kept the second game as close as they could but lost 2-1 on
a walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Mike Murray pitched the first six innings for Centralia allowing only
one run and striking out four batters.

Murray's one run given up was in the fourth inning to give Lower
Columbia a 1-0 lead.

The Blazers were able to tie the game in the top of the sixth when Joe
Wooster scored on a Mac Collette hit.

The game remained tied 1-1 until the bottom of the seventh inning when
Centralia allowed the unearned winning run to the Red Devils. Reliever
Colton Westfall allowed the winning run and was charged with the loss.
