Tacoma takes series from Centralia

Blazers Mac Collette takes a cut at a pitch in Centralia's singe victroy over Tacoma.

The Blazers walked away with one victory and two losses after a three game series with Tacoma during the weekend.

Centralia split an April 25 doubleheader with the Titans and lost a single game April 26 to bring their league record to 7-7.

After trailing 4-0 in the first six and a half innings of play the Blazers put together two solid offensive innings. Centralia scored three runs in the seventh inning and two in the eighth to come from behind and win 5-4.

Tyson Schmitt started the game for the Blazers and pitched six innings giving up one run on four hits, while striking out five.

Jace Shelton came in to relieve Schmitt and gave up three runs on three his.

Mike McGuire pitched the last inning and two thirds for Centralia striking out two of the five batters he faced. McGuire did not allow a runner to reach base and picked up his first win as a Blazer.

Connor Adams led Centralia with two hits, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.

Mac Collette had 2 RBIs on one hit while Carl Johnson also knocked in a run for the Blazers.

Walked batters and wild pitches did not help Centralia in the second game as Tacoma scored runs in five of the seven innings played winning 8-0.

The Titans managed eight hits in the first five innings but did not get a hit in the final two innings. Tacoma still however managed to score two runs and get seven runners on base, four by walks and three by hit batters.

Alex Bos was charged with the loss for the Blazers throwing three and a third innings giving up four hits, four runs and walking six batters.

In the final game of the series Centralia found themselves in an early hole and could not claw their way out losing 4-1.

Tacoma scored three runs in the first and another in the second inning but the Blazers could not get anything going as they had only three hits in the game.

Alex Anderson got the start and went four innings giving up four runs but only two being earned.

Anderson struck out five batters, hit three and walked another three.

Jesus Morgan had the team's only RBI of the game and Collette scored the only run.

Centralia will travel to Longview May 1 to take on rival Lower Columbia. The teams have met three times this season with the Blazers holding a 2-1 advantage over the Red Devils.  The Blazers then turn around and host a doubleheader May 2 against Pierce.
